Poppy earrings

A couple captures two intimate moments of the Papaver somniferum flowering cycle.
On the one hand, the bud remains closed: the sepals open and fall as the wrinkled petals begin to emerge.

On the other, the flower in full revelation: the petals expand and smooth out during anthesis, reaching the point where the flower fully opens and the stamens and pistil become visible.
